Technology and Identity
Each year I include more technology in my instruction and assessment. This semester I've started a classroom art blog where students take photos of works in process and finished work. They'll start writing artist's statements along with the larger works and they will coment on the work of their peers. Here's the tumblr link!
Part of my struggle with technology is to find the free online software that students can use when they no longer have access to the Adobe software they have access to at school. I'm beginning to gather a library of resources, and should really post the list when I have the time to organize it.
For digital posters and presentations I like Piktochart, and have played with a few others but they all seem to cost money. To play with the zine idea I searched for free e-publishing sites and found Joomag! I created a rather hastily designed e-zine this week on the subject of race, gender and sexuality. It takes me a long time to get the hang of new tech, and even longer to decide on design, which I'm afraid I'm not very good at. Nonetheless, here's the magazine!
