Here is a page in what could be an entire lifetime of work. As a lover of graphic novels and comics I held myself to high expectations during this project. I had trouble with formatting, and figuring out how I was going to include images. While I love drawing, it's been a long time since I've kept a regular sketchbook with actual drawings in them. I tend to draw from life, which I know I could do in this case, but I would need more than a week to come up with what I wanted to come up with. I also enjoy that my drawings from imagination are silly, crude and not at all perfect, but again- I'm out of practice and would need some working up to get across what I wanted to get across.

So I used photos, mostly sourced from facebook and from class volunteers who were unaware of what they were volunteering for until I showed them afterward. I sourced the photo of the galaxies from recently released NASA photos. I altered all the photos on Photoshop and then on illustrator, using the trace function and choosing when to outline them and not.

I was really taken with the idea of someone's "Through Line" having an impact on their research. It was one of those "Duh" moments for me when I realized that I really have to look back into my own history to see what has been a recurring theme for me? Why am I so interested in transcurricular education, and why am I so badly missing seeing students delve deep into their soul and spill their guts into their artwork as I work with my collaborative STEAM team at Metro...

Because of time restraints, and my own hangups with technicalities, I don't think I did as good of a job showing or explaining what I was thinking about trying with my reasearch into this area. I'm still excited that I have a tangible direction, and beyond ordering some of the Arts Based Research Books that were suggested last week, I'm still fresh on the sent of a new direction.

The process of doing this comic page was awesome though, and I'm actually into using this format to amp up my resume and perhaps handout during an interview or a STEAM promotional eventuality. We'll see...the format is perfect. Information, imaginiation, possibilities of what could be, and visuals to add more information, drama, emotion and excitement. Love.
